Began her career researching how to improve efficiency in UN procurement, later moving to Singapore to become a commodities trader with Cargill. Has worked with firms ranging from start-ups to large multinationals.

Spent nearly 20 years on the University of Illinois faculty across the Department of Agricultural and Consumer Economics and the Department of Business Administration, including 10 years directing the Food and Agribusiness Management Program and roles supporting industry-campus interactions. Previously on faculty at Texas A&M University and worked as a commercial banker for more than seven years before his PhD. Has direct experience across conventional, sustainable and organic food industry supply chains.

PhD in Soil and Water Management from Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, with post-doctoral fellowships from the University of Rostock, Germany, and University of California, Davis. Served ICAR from 1990 to 2025, including as Principal Scientist and Head of the Division of Soil and Crop Management at the Central Soil Salinity Research Institute, then as Assistant Director General (Soil & Water Management) and Deputy Director General (Natural Resource Management). Recipient of the TWAS Medal, the FAO Global Soil Information Award, the ICAR Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Award and several other national and international honours. Published over 250 research papers and authored 35 books on fertilizer and soil management, irrigation, and climate change impact on Indian agriculture.

Recognized by the US Citizenship and Immigration Services as an Alien of Extraordinary Ability. Instrumental in founding several companies related to environmental stewardship and renewable energy, holding board-level and C-level positions.

Pioneered operations and processing plants — designing, installing and heading plants across these process lines both in India and abroad.

Empanelled on the panels of NABL (National Accreditation Board for Calibration and Testing Laboratories) and EIC (Export Inspection Council, Govt. of India), New Delhi, and IBSCs of research centers as Technical Expert/Assessor.

Ltd. since 2012, a Swiss MNC and world leader in packaging machinery, growing the Indian subsidiary sixfold in both revenue and headcount and building out its R&D, service and training operations with full Southeast Asia P&L responsibility. Previously Country Head for Kimberly-Clark's Industrial and Healthcare business units (2004–2012), and held senior roles at Asia Pulp and Paper, 3M India, Kirloskar Brothers, ITW Signode and SKF. Twenty years of board experience as local director at Kimberly-Clark Professional and Bobst India. Holds a BE and MMS from Pune University and a certification in independent directorship. Advises Sagroli's Shikshan Prasarak Mandal, one of rural India's largest schools.
